About Asus
1989-1995
The idea of starting Asus began when a group of ambitious engineers was having coffee in a cafe. They dreamt of a “small and beautiful company”. Little so they knew that this small dream would become one of the most successful companies in the technology sector one day.
After almost 8 months, these engineers created had created the cache 386/33 and ISA 486/25 – two personal computer motherboards used by industry-leading products built by IBM and ALR. With this great success, Taiwan became a high-quality IT products hub and renowned globally. Asus became a great name in the market. That is when in 1992 they establish a formal partnership with Intel which last very long. In 1995 Asus became the leading motherboard maker globally, and they launched the first Asus dual-shocker Intel Pentium motherboard: PCI/I-P54NP4.
1996-2004
In 1996 Asus started trading as a public company in the Taiwan stock exchange. After that, they launched their Notebook ASUS P6300 in the year 1997. The best performing motherboard was also created by Asus in 1998 named Intel Pentium motherboard: ASUS P2B. After this, they kept on going, between the years 2000-2004. Asus opened several customer service centers in various countries, launched its first all-black PCB motherboard, Asus also launched its first 3G flip phone: J100, they launched the world’s first notebook with an in-built TV-tuner and multimedia software. Some other achievements were also accomplished during this time.
2005-2008
Asus created a boom in the market during the years 2005-2008. Their first accomplishment during this time was, they created the world’s first environment-friendly motherboard in Taiwan, Asus didn’t stop there it was just the starting of something great. They created the first laptop with a built-in swiveling webcam, they created a sub-brand for gaming enthusiasts named Republic of Gamers(ROG). Asus tried something new, they did a collaboration with Lamborghini and launched a notebook called the Lamborghini VX series which was a great success, after that they launched the world’s thinnest and lightest business laptop: Asus U1, the first-ever Asus cloud service was also launched during this time, Asus has always believed in environment-friendly work, considering they launched a laptop which primary material was bamboo. So many more creations were also done during this time.
2009-2016
Now, it’s the second decade of the 21st century and Asus wanted to do something different from the rest of the companies. As time passes the Asus foundation expanded, and they created a new GreenAsus group. In which the products were environmentally friendly. The first Motherboard to pass energy star 5.0 certification was created by Asus in 2009, and with this innovation, they became the leading green technology company. It was recognized by CNN and Times magazine. Between the years 2011-2015, Asus created so many new more powerful Motherboards, laptops, Notebooks, etc. In the year 2016 Asus created a record by winning 4,385 Awards. In that same year, a fortune magazine named Asus in the world’s most admired companies for the second consecutive year, ranking it fourth in a computer technology company.
2017-2019
As the second decade was near to end Asus was celebrating milestones which they achieved in the past. It was then Chairman Jonney Shih boldly said that Asus needs to create next-generation solutions that meet customer needs in the coming digital era. In 2018, Asus started working on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies. In that year they unveil their look into the future, a cutting-edge AI-enabled concept device that was completely advanced. In the same year, Asus stormed into the mobile market and launched their first ROG gaming smartphone. Right from the launch, it was a great success. The phone made a good reputation among hardcore gamers and gaming enthusiasts around the world. Asus celebrated 30 years in business. On this occasion, they launched: Zenfone 6 edition 30, Zenbook edition 30, Prime X299 edition 30. Additionally, they gave a preview of the Prime utopia concept Motherboard, with this bold new design Asus once again became the No.1 Motherboard company. The ending ceremony of completion of 30 years ended with a massive surprise. The opening of Asus headquarters campus in Taipei. The new facility symbolizes Asus’s goal of raising standards.
